New LRC e-resource

Social Policy and Practice (including ChildData) is a major bibliographic database with abstracts covering evidence-based social policy, public health, social services, education, law, community development and mental and community health. The database is particularly strong on social care of the young and elderly.

The resource brings together data from five major organisations integrated under one search interface containing around 200,000 records. The database includes records from 1981 to date, with an average of 24,000 new records added annually.

The organisations are the Centre for Policy on Ageing, Greater London Authority, IDOX, Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) and the National Children's Bureau.

The majority of the material originates from the UK but there is also European and US material.

Some 50% of the references are to grey literature, including semi-published reports, working papers, local and central government reports, and material from the voluntary sector and charities.

Access is via http://www.athens.ac.uk using your Trinity University Athens Account.
