A Minimum Income Standard for the UK in 2010

This interesting report, published by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation asks the question - How much is needed to achieve a minimum acceptable standard of living in the United Kingdom today? A number of key points were revealed during the course of this study, including:
  • A single person in the UK needs to earn at least £14,400 a year before tax to afford an acceptable standard of living.

  • Since 2000 there has been a fall in living standards of over 10 per cent.

  • A computer and home internet connection are now considered essential for all non-pensioner households.
