Cyhoeddiad Pwysig

Mae’r dull o gael mynediad i adnoddau llyfrgell ar-lein PCYDDS yn newid!

Fel y gwyddoch, mae Llyfrgell ac Adnoddau Dysgu PCYDDS yng Nghaerfyrddin, Llambed a Llundain yn defnyddio system fewngofnodi Athens ar hyn o bryd ar gyfer adnoddau ar-lein megis e-lyfrau ac e-gylchgronau.  Mae nifer o anfanteision i’r system hon:

• Mae angen ichi gofio enw defnyddiwr a chyfrinair ar gyfer Athens sy’n wahanol i'ch prif gyfrif prifysgol;
• Mae’n rhaid inni anfon eich manylion mewngofnodi ar gyfer Athens atoch drwy e-byst awtomatig, sydd weithiau'n cael eu hatal gan hidlwyr post sothach; 
• Nid yw’n hawdd diweddaru’ch manylion mewngofnodi ar gyfer Athens os byddwch yn newid eich cwrs neu'n cael estyniad, ac mae'n rhaid inni eu hymestyn â llaw ar gais; 
• Mae system Athens yn cael ei rheoli â llaw, sy’n gallu arwain at oedi wrth ymateb i’ch e-byst ar adegau prysur. 

Er mwyn helpu datrys y problemau hyn a gwella ein gwasanaeth ichi, mae’r Llyfrgell yn symud i ffwrdd oddi wrth Athens am y rhan fwyaf o’n hadnoddau ar-lein gan ddechrau ym mis Medi 2014.   Yn lle hyn byddwn yn cyflwyno system fewngofnodi newydd sy’n caniatáu ichi ddefnyddio’ch enw defnyddiwr a chyfrinair prifysgol.   Ni fydd angen ichi wneud unrhyw beth i fanteisio ar y newid hwn.

I fewngofnodi gan ddefnyddio'r system newydd, o 22 Medi bydd angen ichi sicrhau eich bod yn cael mynediad i adnoddau llyfrgell naill ai drwy wefan y Llyfrgell yn http://www.uwtsd.ac.uk/library neu o gatalog y Llyfrgell yn http://tsd-c.worldcat.org neu http://tsd-l.worldcat.org/ lle gofynnir ichi fewngofnodi gan ddefnyddio'ch cyfrif PCYDDS. Sylwer na fydd yn bosibl mewngofnodi i’n hadnoddau drwy chwiliad Google neu nod tudalen blaenorol, oherwydd ni fydd modd i’r gwefannau wybod eich bod yn deillio o PCYDDS.

Os oes gennych gyfrif Athens eisoes, bydd yn parhau’n ddilys ar gyfer llawer o adnoddau tan y dyddiad y daw i ben.   Fodd bynnag byddwn yn lleihau ein cefnogaeth i Athens o fis Medi ymlaen, ac felly os daw eich manylion mewngofnodi i ben neu os cewch anawsterau, byddwn yn eich annog i ddefnyddio’r system fewngofnodi newydd.

Mae nifer bach iawn o adnoddau arbenigol a fydd yn parhau i ddefnyddio Athens.   Byddwn yn parhau i gyflenwi a chefnogi manylion mewngofnodi drwy Athens ar gais ar gyfer yr adnoddau hyn yn unig o Medi 2014:

Important Announcement

The way to access UWTSD Online Library resources is changing!

As you may be aware, UWTSD Library and Learning Resources at Carmarthen, Lampeter and London currently use the Athens login system for online resources such as e-books and e-journals. This system has several disadvantages:

• You need to remember a separate login and password for Athens to your main University account;
• We have to send your Athens login out via automated emails, which are sometimes blocked by junk mail filters;
• It is not possible to update your Athens login easily if you change your course or are granted an extension,  and we have to manually extend it on request;
• The Athens system is managed manually, which can result in a delay in responding to your emails at peak times.

To help resolve these problems and improve our service to you, the Library is moving away from Athens for most of our online resources starting from September 2014.  Instead, we will be introducing a new login system which allows you to use your University login and password.  You will not need to do anything to take advantage of this change.

To log in using the new system, from 22nd September you will need to make sure you access library resources either through the Library Website at http://www.uwtsd.ac.uk/library/ or from the library catalogue at http://tsd-c.worldcat.org or http://tsd-l.worldcat.org/  where you will be asked to log in using your UWTSD account.  Please note that it will not be possible to log in to our resources through a Google search or a previous bookmark, as the websites will have no way of knowing that you are from UWTSD.

If you already have an Athens account, it will continue to be valid for many resources until the expiry date.  We will be reducing our support for Athens from September onwards, however, and so if your login expires or you have difficulties we will encourage you to use the new login system.

There are a very small number of specialist resources which will continue to use Athens.  We will continue to issue and support Athens logins on demand for these resources only from September 2014:
