From Wednesday 4th December, most items you borrow from Carmarthen Campus Library or Lampeter Campus Library will be issued until Wednesday 8th January 2014.

Green, yellow and blue band items, journals, laptops and MacBook computers will be subject to the usual loan periods.

Photo shoot, models needed!

Volunteers are still needed for a photo shoot for a poster campaign promoting academic libraries in Wales.  For this government initiative we need up to 8 volunteers who are available on 4 November between 10am and 4pm - you don't have to stay all day but the organisers would like a variety of people in the photos rather than the same people.  If you are interested please contact Emma Harvey-Woodason, e.harvey-woodason@tsd.uwtsd.ac.uk by 5pm today.

Lampeter Library photoshoot

Lampeter library has been selected as the location for a photo shoot in a poster campaign to promote HE libraries and their resources in Wales.  We are looking for 8 volunteers who are available on 4 November between 10am and 4pm (you don't have to be there all the time) who'd be willing to particpate .  Please contact Emma Harvey-Woodason, e.harvey@tsd.ac.uk, if you are interested in participating.

Use it or lose it!

The artefact collection at TSD on the Carmarthen campus could be regarded as an endangered species. Fewer and fewer universities with teacher training course host a collection such as this. Please help us keep ours. Usage in the 1^st term of this academic year fell to an all-time low (this may be due to the new timing of teaching practice). Space is at a premium in the LRC on the Carmarthen campus and collections which are not used could be removed. If you have never used the collection why not come and take a look – it was created for those doing teacher training but resources there may be of use to those doing other courses such as Early Childhood Studies and Youth and Community. Those of you

who have used the collection in the past if you think it should be kept please
ensure you use it in the coming weeks.

When artefacts are taken into School the children have a unique opportunity to handle and engage with them which allows a very different learning experience to using the web for learning. The artefact collection contains a wide range of objects from Romans coins, Hanukah lamp through to bee-bots, play parachutes and puppets.

Pan gymerir arteffactau i’r Ysgol caiff y plant gyfle unigryw i'w trin a’u trafod ac mae'u profiad dysgu’n wahanol iawn i ddefnyddio’r we ar gyfer dysgu. Yn y casgliad arteffactau ceir ystod eang o wrthrychau o ddarnau arian Rhufeinig, lamp Hanukah i offer Bee-bot, parasiwtiau a phypedau.

On Tuesday 19^th and Wednesday 20^th March there will be considerable noise and disruption on the lower floor, especially near the study space, while we adjust shelving and move the oversize books back on the open shelves. 

We apologise for any inconvenience.

Altogether we had:

• 160 overdue books returned in Lampeter
• 152 overdue books returned in Carmarthen
• 23 lost items returned.
